Supporting, promoting, and developing the use of horticulture to improve health, well-being and life opportunities for all
Trellis, established in 2005 as the Scottish Therapeutic Gardening Network, works with around 130 therapeutic gardening projects across Scotland - helping people improve their fitness, mobility and mental health, and to gain skills and qualifications. Projects operate in hospitals, secure units, day centers and community gardens, often with limited resources & little recognition. The Trellis Network helps these projects to support each other through the sharing of expertise, good practice and resources.
The main services that Trellis provides to projects are as follows:
Our information service provides advice and support, maintains our national database of projects, produces our quarterly ‘Propagator’ newsletter and the Trellis website
Our network events provide local opportunities for staff & volunteers from therapeutic gardening projects to share ideas and mutual support
The Trellis annual conference brings together people interested in therapeutic gardening from every region of Scotland
Our promotional activities aim to raise the profile of therapeutic gardening in Scotland and increase recognition of this valuable work
You can help:
Volunteering: Trellis needs volunteers to help with fundraising & events. Local projects need volunteers for all types of activities, not just gardening
Spreading the word: Display our leaflets and tell others about Trellis
Making a donation: to support Scottish therapeutic gardening projects Gardening improves fitness, relieves stress, aids recovery and can lead to new skills and qualifications.
