Perennial - Gardeners’ Royal Benevolent Society Charity Partner
Behind each and every flower, shrub, allotment plot and garden lies a small army of horticulturists… From seed producers, to landscapers, and arborists, from plantsmen and women to propagators, groundsmen, nursery and garden centre workers, these dedicated people devote their working lives to helping us make our parks and gardens more beautiful and to improving the built environment. In a livelihood that is largely dependent on good health and strength, illness and injury can have a devastating effect on horticulturists and their families, while low rates of pay, job insecurity and retirement can present additional problems. For over 166 years, Perennial has been providing help for horticulturists in need. Today, we are still the country’s only charity for people in gardening professions. Each year we help hundreds of people who due to illness, old age or financial difficulties have found themselves unable to cope. Our nationwide team of caseworkers aims to respond quickly and effectively, providing the advice and support that people need to get back on their feet and rebuild their lives.
