"Alzheimer's Support is committed to the provision of a range of flexible, specialist services, which give people with Alzheimer’s or other dementias and their carers real choice, whilst maintaining as much independence and control over their lives as possible.
Alzheimer’s Support is a registered charity founded in 1990 in response to a locally identified need for support for people with dementia and their carers. Alzheimer’s Support provides a range of flexible services in Wiltshire and Kennet namely:
Information and Support, we provide sufferers, carers, professionals and the public with information about dementia and in doing so raise awareness about dementia and promote a better understanding about it.
The Counselling Service, provided by a qualified counsellor who recognises the difficulty carers’ encounter. We aim to provide a non-judgemental and confidential service.
Relief Care Service offers company and conversation for the person with dementia in their own home. It enables the sufferer to go shopping, for walks and to continue with leisure pursuits and hobbies, whilst providing respite for their carers.
Polebarn House Club, Oasis Saturday Club and The Sunday Club. These activity based social clubs run 7 days a week for people with dementia. They provide long-term support to members as their dementia develops. Transport is provided; ensuring people in rural, isolated areas have the opportunity to attend the Clubs. The clubs enable members to remain part of their community whilst providing respite and informal support for their families and carers.
