Against Breast Cancer (ABC) is a registered charity funding vital nationwide research into breast cancer secondary spread. The statistics are frightening. Sadly 1 in 9 women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. More than 41,000 women and 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer nationwide annually. Around 14,000 of these will die from this terrible disease. Following successful treatment patients in the UK are still around five times more likely to die from secondary breast cancer than similar patients in Southern Italy. Here at ABC we offer real hope to these patients – and their families. ABC is committed to important medical research in 40+ hospitals across the UK working with breast cancer patients looking at the link between different foods and lifestyles - and the recurrence of breast cancer. With the study results the charity will be able to inform patients of the significance and impact of their diet and their way of life in surviving breast cancer. It is also believed the study will provide vital information that will lead to the introduction of a vaccine - which will protect women from more than 85% of known breast cancers.
